Walter Patrick Mitchell, age 77, of Ashland City, Tennessee, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024. He was born in Erin, Tennessee, on July 2, 1946, to the late Walter B. Mitchell and Juanita Jean (Barnes) Mitchell. He was a member of Highland Chapel Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army. Walter worked as a truck driver for J. B. Hunt. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Juanita Mitchell, and brother, Nelson Ray Mitchell. He is survived by his wife, Detta June (Morris) Mitchell; children, Jonathan Ray Mitchell (Mandy), Angela Keeler (Chip), and Shannon Patrick Mitchell (Teresa); brothers, Vernual Mitchell (Jackie) and Ernest Mitchell (Kathy); sister, Norma Jean Howell (Teddy); 7 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at 12noon in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Pastor Blake Stiles officiating. Burial will follow at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Nashville, Tennessee. Visitation will be the same day from 11am until 12noon.
