Vernon Hamblen, Jr., age 81, passed away after a long battle with cancer. He was born April 10, 1937 to Virgie Lee Driver Hamblen and Vernon Hamblen, Sr. He grew up in the town of Ashland City and then went to the Air Force. After his military service, he worked for a local taxi company and lived in Nashville for years. He later worked for a produce company driving a delivery truck. The last job Vernon had was at the Grille in West Nashville, where he stayed until he was physically unable. He attended Park Avenue Baptist Church for years with his family. He is preceded in death by his father, Vernon Hamblen, Sr., his mother, Virgie Lee Nash, and step-father C.J. Nash. He is survived by his sister, Mary Yates, nieces, Debbie Cunningham, Lorre (Steve) Jarrell, nephews, Roger Yates and James Marshall (Daphney) Yates. He also has several great nieces and nephews. He will have a quiet graveside service where his family members will say goodbye on Sunday, August 4, 2018 at 1pm in Carney Demonbreun Cemetery with Reverend David Guy officiating.
