HARRIS, Tom Brooks, Jr., born March 14, 1930, in Weakley County (Dresden), Tennessee, passed away November 9, 2012, at his office in Ashland City, Tennessee. Mr. Harris was an Attorney and Certified Public Accountant. He is preceded in death by his parents, Tom B. Harris, Sr., and Tommie Susan Black Harris, and brother-in-law, Randy Anderson. He is survived by his son and caregiver, David Anderson Harris, Aubrey Harris, Orbert E. and June Anderson, Dawn McAlexander; brother, Dr. John J. Harris, and a granddaughter, Hilary Thomas and great-grandson, Mason Thomas. Mr. Harris was a member of the United States Coast Guard. He was always very proud to be a veteran. Mr. Harris served as a Director of the Small Business Administration in the administration of the late Governor Buford Ellington, and was a professor of law and accounting at Belmont College (now Belmont University). He was a faithful member of the Scottsboro First Baptist Church. Other surviving family members are Jack and Kay Gilbert, Pat Anderson, Randall and Daniel Anderson, Hunter Gilbert, Jackson, Preston, Lauren Paige and Tanner Anderson, and friend and professional associate of more than 40 years, Grant W. Smith. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at 2pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Brother Bob Mowrey and Judge Bill Stinnett officiating.
