Thomas "Tom Hugh "Hoody" Ashburn, age 70, passed away at Centennial Hospital on Saturday, February 6, 2021. Tom was born October 2, 1950, in East Nashville, Tennessee, to the late Herbert Ashburn and Mary Elizabeth Neely Ashburn. Tom was a fun- loving person who loved to cut up and have a great time. He was a self-employed brick mason and owned and operated Thomas Ashburn Masonry. He loved old cars especially his 1957 Chevy. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Herbert Ashburn, Terry Ashburn, Eugene Ashburn, and Frank Ashburn. He is survived by his sons, Timmy Ashburn (Toni), James Cantrell and Jody Cantrell (Vanessa Stickler); daughter, Laurie Cantrell; sister, Myrtle Yant; grandchildren, Anthony Ashburn, Timmy Ashburn, Jessie Ashburn, Darin Ashburn, J.T. Cantrell and Heather Lindeman; great-grandchild, Ava Shell; and his best buddy, Shiloh. A memorial visitation will be Saturday, February 13, 2021, from 12noon to 4pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home.
