Janice Sue (Hunter) Shivers, age 74, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, September 26, 2025, at TriStar Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Sue was born on July 20, 1951, in Ashland City, Tennessee, to the late Buford and Doris (Smith) Hunter. She was a graduate of Cheatham County Central High School, Class of 1969.
She enjoyed shopping and caring for her furbaby Chloe. She retired from the Nashville Post Office Credit Union and previously worked at Methodist Publishing House. Her primary roles included being a housewife, mother, and loving nanny to her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Buford and Doris (Smith) Hunter; and brothers, David and Murray Hunter.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Bobby Ray Shivers; daughters, Angela Shivers Pryor and Natalie Shivers Garrett and her husband Shane; brother, Billy Ray Hunter and his wife, Peggy; grandchildren, Hunter (Greyson) Pryor, Peyton Garrett (Aaylah Martinez), Paisley Garrett, and Laken Garrett; furbaby, Chloe; special friends, Pat (Harris) Nicholson and Elaine (Perry) Bell; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be Thursday, October 2, 2025, at 6:30pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Derek Batts officiating. The family will receive visitors from 4pm until service hour of 6:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project
