Shirley Mae Trisket Mraz died on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease.
Shirley, who was born on May 31, 1933, had been a resident in the Alzheimer's unit of McKendreee Village in Hermitage since the death of her husband, Franklin "Bro. Jack" Mraz on Sunday, May 14, 2006. Shirley and Jack were married for almost 55 years.
Shirley was born in Willoughby, Ohio, just outside of Cleveland. She graduated from Willoughby High School in 1951 and was married to Jack on June 29, 1951.
She and Jack had three sons, Gary (1953), Mark (1956) and Tim (1965). She studied at both Tennessee Tech and Austin Peay.
Shirley and Jack invested 45-plus years in the United Methodist Church ministry. She worked at the General Board of Ministry of the United Methodist Church as a secretary.
Shirley was loved as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, secretary, preacher's wife, homemaker and mother-in-law.
Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Harold Trisket; mother, Marie Trisket; brother, Donald Trisket; sister, Marjorie Trisket; and son, Mark Mraz..
She is survived by her son, Tim Mraz of Cookeville, son, Gary Mraz and daughter-in-law, Deborah, of Laguardo, Tenn.; daughter-in-law, Debra, of Nashville; and many other family members.
Shirley was buried next to Jack at the Veterans Cemetery on McCrory Lane in Nashville on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013.
A memorial service will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at the Scottsboro United Methodist Church, 5034 Old Hydes Ferry Pike in Nashville).
Mr. Jim Olive and Mrs. Joy Edwards will lead in the memorial service.
The Scottsboro United Methodist Church choir and Mr. Danny Womack will bring the special music.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Scottsboro United Methodist Church, 5034 Old Hydes Ferry Pike, Nashville, TN 37218.
