Shirley Mae Hunter Cogbill, age 86, passed away on September 9, 2021, at Stone Crest Medical Center in Rutherford County, Tennessee. Shirley was born in Memphis, Tennessee, to the late Joseph Abner Hunter and Essa Mosley Hunter. She was a former secretary for Ambulance and Coach. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Tommy Cogbill, Sr.; sons, Tommy Cogbill, Jr., and Daran Cogbill; brothers, Joe, Frank and Jimmy Hunter; sisters, Floy, Betty Ann and Edna. She is survived by her son, Gary Cogbill (Kaye); daughters, Judy Sullivan and Sharon McLaughlin (William); daughter-in-law, Trena Cogbill; 9 grandchildren, Brandon Reed, Summer Sullivan, Thomas "Little Tommy" Cogbill, III, Nikki McClellan, James Cogbill, Katelyn Cogbill, Landon Cogbill, Loren Ogburn, and Alexis Cogbill; and 7 great-grandchildren. Funeral service for Shirley will be Sunday, September 12, 2021, in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home, LLC, with Pastor Chris Moore officiating. Visitation will be Sunday before the service from 1pm to 5pm. She will be buried alongside her husband in Forest Hill MidTown in Memphis, Tennessee.
