Mr. Sankey Jay Morton, age 63, passed away at Hillcrest HealthCare Center in Ashland City, Tennessee on May 9, 2025. Sankey was born in Cowen, West Virginia, on May 17, 1961, to the late Richard F. Morton and Sondra Strawder Morton. He was a graduate of Smyrna High School, Class of 1979, where he played football. He worked as a supervisor for the Nashville Rescue Mission in Nashville, Tennessee, where he was formerly a guest and worked his way up to a position to help others. Sankey recently accepted his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Sankey is preceded in death by his parents, Richard F. and Sondra (Strawder) Morton. He is survived by his biological father, Stewart Sergeant; son, Sankey Wayne Morton; brothers, Richard M. Morton (Shelly) and Raymond Morton (Christy); and several nieces/nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Sankey was especially thankful for his "work family" – Glen "Bubba" Lane, Latron Bryant, Freddie Tart, Marcus Canty, Anthony Wiggins, Ron Hinjosa, Joab (Angel) Cartagena-Bonilla, Mike Taylor, Thomas Harris, Cedric Wilson, Bill Earl, James Johnson, Doug Pfeffer, Blake Brodien and Peter Stuart.
