RUBY JEWEL NICKENS, age 66, passed away at her home on Tuesday, February 14, 2017. She was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on July 17, 1950, to the late Marvin Frank McClendon and Lucille Gordon Biggs McClendon. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jeffrey McClendon; sister, Jennie Foster and grandchild, Bobbie Jo Kemp. She worked as a cook at Lakeview Market before retiring to become a caregiver to her grandchildren. She was an active member at the Ashland City Senior Citizens Center where she loved to play cards. Ruby was a loving mother and grandmother and is survived by her husband of 47 years, Walter Nickens; son, John Nickens (Dana); daughters, Sharon Nicholson (Michael) and Linda Diane Nickens; brother, Johnny "Frankie" Franklin McClendon (Jeannie); sisters, Wanda McClendon Anderson (Richard), Mary Johnson (Jerry), and Vanessa McClendon; and 6 grandchildren. Funeral service will be Friday, February 17, 2017, at 5pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Friday from 12noon until the service hour of 5pm.
