Mackey, Robert (Bob)Taylor (born January 6,1930)
It is with great sadness that the family of Robert Taylor Mackey announces his passing on Monday, December 31, 2018, after a brief illness, at the age of 88.
He is preceded in death by his wife of sixty-five years, Irene Wilson Mackey. He will be lovingly remembered by his children Carole Mackey, Rhonda (Robert) Rapone, Steve (Helen) Mackey, Sandra (Scott) Phillips, and Susan (Terrell) Collins, as well as his brothers Tommy and James Mackey, his numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
Bob grew up in Kentucky and was the son of Belle (Briggs) and Charlie Taylor Mackey. At age twenty-one he left the States to go overseas where he served his country in the United States Army in the Korean War. While stationed in Japan, he learned the trade of being a mechanic. This experience would later help shape his career as he would eventually become the manager of multiple Saunders Leasing System sites including Ashland City, Tennessee. Bob moved his family to Cheatham County in 1970, where he resided every since that move. After his retirement from Saunders, he later owned his own hardware store and also ran a stump grinding business with his son.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2019, at 10:30am, at Cheatham County Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 2, from 4:00pm – 7:00pm, and on Thursday from 9:30am – 10:30am. Interment will follow the Thursday service at EverRest in Pleasant View, Tennessee.
