Richard Lee Collins, age 83, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. Richard was born on October 24, 1939, in New Richmond, West Virginia, to the late Chester C. Collins and Mabel M. (Halsey) Collins. He was a member of Gateway Church, a United States Air Force Veteran and a retired electronic technician for AT&T. Everyone that knew Richard will remember his friendliness and wonderful smile. He is preceded in death by his parents and survived by his loving wife, Mary (Steele) Collins; brother, Robert C. Collins (Danese); sister, Carolyn C. Dowlen (James) and Terri Lynn Gillespie (Kevin); godchildren, Meredith Henley (Jon) and Rania Cordell (David); nieces and nephews, Andrea Moyer (Mike), Rob Collins (Micky Grace), Kimberly Ryder, Shannon Jenkins, and Ryan Gillespie (Jaime); chosen daughters, Mikayla Cathey (Jared) and son, Andrew and Karin Mayes and son, Samuel Andrews; great-nephews and great-niece, Christopher Moyer, Wyatt Nickerson, Courtney Durham, Josh Jenkins, and Jake Jenkins; and great, great-nephew, Landon Durham. A celebration of life for Richard will be Monday, January 16, 2023, at 6pm in Gateway Church, 1642 Highway 12 South, Ashland City, Tennessee, 37015. Visitation will be before the service from 4pm to 6pm. A graveside service will be Tuesday, January 17th, at 11am in Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Nashville, Tennessee, with military honors.
