Orbert E. "Sug" Anderson, age 89. Born December 31, 1926, went to be with our Heavenly Father on Saturday, September 10, 2016. Preceded in death by parents, John A. and Mary Inez Krantz Anderson; brothers, John Eldridge and James Edward Anderson; wife of 50 years, Doris Jean Carney Anderson; son, Randall Esau Anderson, Sr.; great-grandson, Randall Wyatt Anderson and son-in-law, Tom Brooks Harris, Jr. Mr. Anderson is survived by wife, Helen June Anderson; daughters, Aubrey Jean Anderson Harris and Marian Kay Anderson (Jack) Gilbert; daughter-in-law, Patricia Garza Anderson; grandsons, Randall Anderson (Heather), Hunter Gilbert, David Harris and Daniel Anderson (Misty); grand-grandchildren, Jackson Anderson, Preston Anderson, Lauren Paige Anderson, and Tanner Anderson; and two sisters, Lorene (Phillip) Douglas and Helen (Lloyd) Foster. He is also survived by step-daughters, Deborah (Kenny) Payne and Martha Lee Brooks; step-granddaughters, Angela Payne, Rachel (Dustin) Ferguson and step-great-granddaughter, Melissa Payne. Mr. Anderson was a Veteran proudly serving in WWII, earning his wings as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne in the United States Army. After retiring as a homicide detective from the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, he founded the security department for St. Thomas Hospital, serving as its Director until his retirement. Mr. Anderson was a member of Wingate Church of Christ. Visitation will be at Cheatham County Funeral Home from 2pm to 7pm on Sunday, September 11, 2016, and 11am until 1pm on Monday, September 12, 2016. Funeral service will be on Monday, September 12th at 1pm conducted by his brother-in-law, Dr. Sellers (Sue) Crain. Pallbearers are son-in-law, John D. "Jack" Gilbert, grandsons, Randall E. Anderson, Jr., John Hunter Gilbert, David Anderson Harris, and Daniel Ray Anderson, nephews, Robert Dale Anderson, Michael Foster, and Andy F. Anderson, step-son-in-law, Kenny Payne and good friend and neighbor, Bobby Robertson. Honorary pallbearers are the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department and Dr. Gary McDonald.
