FORBES, Opal Maxine, age 84, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2014, at her home. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jerome Batts and Mura Shearon Batts, her husband, Rufus Forbes and two brothers, Dewey and Jimmy Batts. She is survived by her daughter, Violet (Wade) Scholes and Jean (David) Phillips; brother, Billy (Bonnie) Batts; 4 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Opal worked and retired from Acme Boot. Funeral service will be Saturday, October 4, 2014, at 12 noon in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Dr. Wade Scholes and Brother Randy Corn officiating. Burial will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery in Ashland City, TN. Serving as active pallbearers will be Don Balthrop, Tommy Cushman, Jerry Forbes, Jeremy and Jared Phillips, Kenneth Jennings, Benny and Tim Batts, Westley Sanders and Charles Head. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Mallory Jennings, Janice Morrison, Emily and Maddie Sanders, Willard and Modene Forbes, Kathy Cushman, Angela Heine, Linda Balthrop, Sandy Olson, Ashley Treadway-Calloway, Dawn Czermak, Ann Kinney, the staff of Willowbrook Home Health and Hospice, Craig and Patrice Empson and the Empson Drug Staff. Visitation with the family will be Friday, October 3rd from 4pm to 7pm and on Saturday from 11am until service hour of 12noon.
