Michael Elwyn Royal, age 77, of Chapmansboro, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at Riverview Post Acute in Ashland City, Tennessee.
He was born on November 17, 1948, in Auburndale, Florida, to the late Talmadge Royal and Betty Lou (Hagler) Royal.
Michael served in the United States Navy. He was a teacher, a Florida Highway Patrol officer, and a truck driving instructor. He was also a 3rd degree Master Mason. If you knew him, you knew he was a huge fan of University of Kentucky Basketball. He was a lifelong member of the Moose Lodge in Winter Haven, Florida and was a Kentucky colonel.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Talmadge and Betty Lou Royal; and sister, Tracy Royal. He is survived by his loving wife, Ellen (Hintz) Royal; son, Thomas Royal (Gabrielle); daughter, Mary Knolton (Scott); and grandchildren, Ian Ranker and Milo Royal. Michael wishes were to be cremated and no services are planned.
