MELINDA CAROL NEWELL, age 54, passed away on Saturday, October 1, 2016. Melinda was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on October 10, 1961, to Willie Ray Cannon and the late Shirley Howell Cannon. She was a member of the Cheatham County High School Class of 1979. Melinda worked as a LPN for many years. She is survived by her father, Willie Ray Cannon; husband, Keith Newell; son, Bryant Newell; brother, Mark (Nancy) Cannon; nephew, Derek Cannon; niece, Amanda Cannon; adopted daughter, Christie (William) Busby and grandchildren, Abbie, Aubrie, MaKenzie, and Katelyn Busby. Funeral service will be Thursday, October 6, 2016, at 1pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Freddie Garza officiating. Burial will follow in Felts Cemetery in Ashland City, Tennessee. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 5th from 3pm to 8pm and on Thursday from 10am until service hour of 1pm.
