Maurice Ronald "Ronnie" Batts, age 68, passed away October 20, 2017, at his home in Lobelville, Tennessee. He was born June 17, 1949, in Pleasant View, Tennessee, to the late Henry Roy Batts and Vera A. Evans Batts. He was a United States Army Veteran, serving in the Vietnam War where he was wounded twice. He was a graduate of Cheatham County High School Class of 1967 and attended the University of Tennessee Nashville. He previously owned a nursery in Brentwood, Tennessee, was a heavy equipment operator and a national truck driver. Ronnie's first love was his beautiful flowers and plants. He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Vera Batts and sisters-in-law, Linda and Georgia Batts; brothers-in-law, Jimmy Evans, J.B. Henderson and Joe Ward. He is survived by his son, Ron, Jr. and his wife Jasmine and three grandchildren; sisters, Myra Evans and Bonnie Ward; and brothers, Wendell (Linda) Batts and Billy Batts. Funeral service will be Tuesday, October 24, 2017, at 12:30pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Dr. Sam Creed. Burial will follow in Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Nashville, Tennessee. Visitation with the family will be Monday, October 23, 2017, from 3pm to 7:30pm and on Tuesday, October 24th, from 10:30am until 12:30pm, hour of service. Serving as active pallbearers Willard Reed, James Bingham, Kem Clark, Randy Blessing, Ricky Henderson, Chris Barnhill, and Tracy Henderson. Honorary pallbearers are Johnny Fleming, Stanley Lemay, Rick Collins, Shawn McKenzie, Tony Wright, John Wylie, Keith Henderson, Dawn Thomason, Brenda Kirk, Audrey Fleming, Sharon Marshall, Jo Bingham, and Lois Cox.
