Mattie Bell Jones, age 90, of Ashland City, Tennessee, passed away at Vantage Pointe Village on Tuesday, August 22, 2023. She was born in Springfield, Tennessee, on March 13, 1933, to the late Floyd Strain and Nancy Jane (Chatman) Strain. Mattie was a faithful member of Sheldon Heights Church of Christ. She worked in Chicago, Illinois, as a teacher. Mattie is preceded in death by her husband, Vincent Jones; brothers, George, Leroy, and William Strain; and sisters, Jessie Mai Bell and Genell Walker. She is survived by her brother, Robert Strain; sisters, Annie Jean McGill and Mildred Lewis (David); brother-in-law, Tommy Walker, Sr.; and sister-in-law, Rebecca Strain. Funeral service will be Saturday, September 9, 2023, at 12noon in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Brother Leonardo Gilbert serving as clergy. Burial will follow in EverRest of Cheatham in Pleasant View, Tennessee. Visitation will be the same day from 10am until the service hour of 12noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
