Obituary

Matthew Thomas Roberts "Spanky" 7-1-77- 12-13-2022
Psalm 34:18
Spanky was born in Nashville at Metro General Hospital. He was quiet and reserved for people he trusted. Spanky loved his big brother, he loved to go night fishing with him. He was proud of his younger brother and sister and would tell you all about them if he got a chance. Spanky loved practicing football with his cousin and played from a young age through high school. If you knew Spanky, you know about his mom's sweet tea and his granny's chocolate gravy. According to him, you were missing out if you hadn't tried either. Spanky loved his country and served 4 years in the Army. He loved watching NASCAR and grilling out on the weekends. Spanky had a love for music and the meaning behind the song. Spanky loved the outdoors and summertime. You could find him fishing or on the river. You couldn't tell him nothing when UT beat Bama and the Gators this season! Spanky loved binge watching Yellowstone with his dad. Spanky might spend hours on the phone or ride to Virginia to spend time with his best friend from who he served with. Spanky was most proud of his children and his grandchildren. He loved sending them songs he loved; he loved listening to the songs they sent him. He loved keeping them on the phone for hours or in the driveway. He loved grilling for them, he just loved them. Spanky's beloved Mowgli and devoted riding partner who did no wrong will miss him dearly. "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched-they must be felt with the heart." – Helen Keller. This is the love he left his children and family.
