Mary Ida Ragan Lovell, age 96, passed away peacefully at The Residence at Alive Hospice on the evening of Saturday, April 24, 2021. Mary was born September 26, 1924, in Cheatham County, Tennessee, to the late Thomas Ronald Ragan and Mary Elizabeth Baker Ragan. She worked for Werthan Bag in her early years and later was a homemaker to her family. Mary loved her family and was a doting grandmother to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family and friends will fondly remember her for her German chocolate cake, which brought large sums of money in the community raffles. Mary is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Dudley Lovell, Sr.; son, John Dudley "Hammer" Lovell, II; daughter, Fay Lovell Louallen; and her nine siblings, Grace Munn, Edna Jarrell, Kate Proctor, Marie Ness, Ernest Ragan, Tom Ragan, Harper Ragan, Walter Ragan, and Norman "Gene" Ragan. She is survived by her daughter, Kay Drake; 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at 1pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Brother Dan Dozier officiating. Burial will follow in EverRest of Cheatham, LLC, in Pleasant View, Tennessee. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 27th from 3pm to 7pm and on Wednesday, April 28th from 10am until service hour of 1pm. Serving as pallbearers will be Troy Drake, II, Aubrey Louallen, Preston Louallen, J.D. Lovell, Mason Hall, and Hunter Drake.
