Mary Jane Groves, age 79, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2022. She was born in Ashland City, Tennessee on January 29, 1943, to the late J.T. Proctor and Kate (Ragan) Proctor. She worked for ACME Boot, Kemps Foodland, Ashland City Elementary School in the cafeteria, and in the catering business at State Industries. She is preceded in death by her parents, J.T. and Kate Proctor; brother, Jessie Thomas Proctor; and the father of her son, Jimmy Groves. Mary Jane is survived by her son, Gary Groves; brother, John. A. Proctor; sisters, Dolly Mae Creasy and Linda Sue Groves; granddaughter, Hope Bush (Zack); and great grandchildren, Briison Bush, Rylee Bush, and Ava Bush. Funeral service will be Friday, September 30, 2022, at 1pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery in Ashland City, Tennessee. Visitation will be Thursday, September 29, 2022, from 3pm to 7pm in the chapel, and Friday, September 30, 2022, from 10am until the hour of service.
