Martha Ann (Harris) Hooper, age 85, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, October 16, 2024. Martha was born at Home in Ashland City, Tennessee, on June 29, 1939, to the late Dennis E. Harris and Nell Ruth (Clark) Harris. She graduated from Cheatham County High School Class of 1957. After school, Martha worked at Genesco in Nashville, before beginning a 27-year career with the Ashland City Times newspaper. She was a faithful lifelong member of the Ashland City United Methodist Church. Martha was an avid UT fan who loved camping, traveling, and most of all spending time with the family.
Preceded in death by husband of 63 years, Harold Hooper; parents, Dennis and Nell Harris; brothers, Dennis Harris (Gwen) and Richard Harris (Ann).
Survived by sons, Harold Thomas Hooper (Celina), Timothy Harris Hooper (Jackie), and James "Richie" Hooper; grandchildren, Lee, Alan, Timothy, Samuel, and Anna; and great grandchildren, Bryce, Logan, Hunter, Everett, Goldie, Emory, and Harlen. Also, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral service will be Saturday, October 19, 2024, at 2pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Reverend Dr. Allison Gilliam officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery in Ashland City, Tennessee. Visitation will be the same day from 12noon until the service hour of 2pm. Serving as pallbearers will be relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Forest Hill Cemetery or Ashland City United Methodist Church.
