Obituary

Marjorie A. Noel, age 89, passed away on Monday, May 1, 2023, at Vantage Pointe Village in Ashland City, Tennessee. Marjorie was born in Chapmansboro, Tennessee, on January 13, 1934, to the late George Dewey Herron and Virginia H. (Jennette) Herron. She attended Bethlehem Free Will Baptist Church, a long-term member of Belmont Heights Baptist in Nashville, a member of the Red Hat Society and a Belmont Mansion Historic Society member. Marjorie was a leader in the selling of real estate with Crye-Leike until her retirement. She and her husband, Hayes, enjoyed hunting, fishing, and enjoyed shooting skeet and trap. Marjorie was a member of the Radiant Tennis Group and was President of the Radiant Sunday School Class at Belmont Heights Baptist Church in Nashville until she moved back to Cheatham County, Tennessee. She belonged to the Wednesday Study Club, a literary club organized in 1922 by some of Nashville's prominent ladies, one being Mrs. Jeanette T. Acklen Noel.
Marjorie once stated "I have been blessed with a wonderful husband, precious family and friends. I am thankful to God for this. Whatever I may accomplish, I give God the Glory and Praise."
Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents, George Dewey and Virginia Herron; husband, Hayes A. Noel, Sr; infant sister; brothers, Carl, Wendell and Glenn Herron; and sister, Mary Boyte; step-daughter, Jeannette Jackson. She is survived by her sisters, Jeanette Young, Bonnie Ervin, and Carolyn (Danny) Dwyer; stepchildren, Hayes Acklen Noel, Jr (Patricia), Mary Vance Duggan (Peter), and Frances Noel Cowan (Dick) and a host of nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be Friday, May 5, 2023, at 1pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Danny Dwyer officiating. Burial will follow in EverRest of Cheatham, LLC in Pleasant View, Tennessee. Visitation will be Friday before the service from 11am until service hour of 1pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marjorie's memory may be made to Bethlehem Free Will Baptist Church or Oaklawn Free Will Baptist Church.
