Obituary

Marilyn June Gupton, age 87, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 19, 2019, surrounded by her loving family, at The Waters of Cheatham Nursing Home in Ashland City, TN. She was born in Kentucky to Marvin and Dorothy Crenshaw, and was the oldest of three children.

Marilyn (Nikki) was a former secretary at the Ashland City United Methodist Church for many years. She was a loving wife, mother of three children, and excellent homemaker. Marilyn was a member of the Ashland City United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women's Groups in Ashland City and Walton's Chapel in Henrietta, TN. She volunteered with the Girl Scouts, the Boy Scouts, taught Sunday School and volunteered as secretary of Walton's Chapel United Methodist Church. She will be remembered as a bright, shining light in the various places she worked and volunteered. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Wanda Bain, her brother, David Crenshaw, and a nephew, Marc Bain. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Reverend Paul Robert Gupton of Ashland City, her children, Susan (Steve) Allen, Bob (Becky) Gupton and Robin (Roger) Jackson all residing in Ashland City. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, Stephanie Allen Bailey of Nashville, Wendy Allen Funk and Emily Allen Toombs of Pleasant View, TN, Master Gunnery Sergeant Ryan Gupton of Okinawa, Japan, Adam Gupton of Lewisburg, TN, Amy Gupton Matlock of Chapel Hill, TN, Joshua Jackson, Abby Jackson Short, and Lakin Jackson of Ashland City, TN and twenty-one great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Ashland City United Methodist Church on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 at 11:00 am, with Reverend Craig Cross and Reverend Dr. Tom Binford officiating. Visitation will be held at the Cheatham County Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 from 11 am until 7 pm, and at the Ashland City United Methodist Church on Wednesday, October 23 from 10 am until the hour of service. Burial will follow the service at Forest Hill Cemetery in Ashland City, TN.
