Lora Edna “Nanny” Eakes, 87, passed away at home on September 19, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born March 28, 1939, in Nashville, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Vaughn Langley and Velma Ellen Ross Langley. She worked at the Amoco as a gas station attendant while dedicating herself to her family as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Known as a card shark, she loved playing rummy. She loved to go junking and watch her westerns. Nanny is preceded in death by her parents; son, Kenneth Eakes, Sr.; daughter, Judith Ann Eakes; brothers, Rodger Langley and Vincent Langley; sisters, Margie Hand and Elizabeth Lavender. She is survived by her daughter, Christy Jones (Johnny); sisters, June Akins, Delana Sanders, and Darlene Corderio; grandchildren, Jenny Jones (Kendra), Lil Kenny Eakes (Danielle), Timothy Jones (Sandie), Todd Eakes (Lisa), Trenton Hayes (Jessica), and Brandon Eakes (Heather); great grandchildren: Julianna Eakes, Emersyn Eakes, Justin Eakes, Trace Eakes, Katelyn Eakes, Harper Hayes, Truitt Hayes, Carlie Jones, Chloe Jones, Kaedence Frey, and Karlee Frey, as well as many nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 1pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Brother Shiloh Hackett officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery in Ashland City, Tennessee. Visitation will be Monday, September 21st from 3pm to 7pm and on Tuesday from 9am until service hour of 1pm. Grandchildren serving as pallbearers are Kenneth Eakes, Jr., Timothy Jones, Jr., Todd Eakes, Brandon Eakes, Trent Hayes, and Kendra Wallace.
