Lena Jean Batson Harrell, age 78, passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2019, at St. Thomas Hospital in Rutherford County. Lena was born in Charlotte, Tennessee, on November 20, 1940, to the late Arthur Clarence Batson and Lydia Mai Hunter Batson. She was a member of the Ashland City First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Charlotte High School Class of 1959 and worked and retired from Cigna Insurance. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, German Harrell; brothers, John D. Batson, Arthur Clarence "AC" Batson, Jr., Alexander "Bud" Batson; and sisters, Betty Jane Reynolds and infant, Doralene Batson; and grandson, Christopher Southgate. She is survived by her daughters, Tammy Jean (Marcus) Harrell Rich and Sherry Harrell Flores; brothers, Jack Bruce (Charolyn) Batson and Donald Lee (Barbara) Batson; sisters, Frances (Mike) Batts and Aline (Charles) Roberts; five grandchildren, Jeremy Jones, Ronda Hefner, Jennifer Jones, Johnathan Rich, and Tyler Rich; two great-grandchildren, Brianna and Aiden Lewis. Funeral service will be Saturday, November 2, 2019, in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Brother Leon Edwards officiating and Jennifer Jones providing the eulogy. Visitation will be Saturday before the service from 10am until service hour of 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lena's memory may be made to the Ashland City Senior Citizens Center.
