LAWRENCE ALTON SMITH, age 82, passed away at Skyline Medical Center on Thursday, February 28, 2019. Lawrence was born on March 5, 1936, in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late Charlie Sydney Smith and Letha Louisa Knight Smith. Lawrence was a member for over 60 years of Friendship Pentecostal Church, an elder and an Adult Sunday School Teacher and worked as a stockyard cattleman for Kentucky/Tennessee Livestock. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy Sue Smith; son, Charles "Charlie" Henry Smith; and several brothers and sisters. Lawrence is survived by two sons, Lawrence Everett Smith and James Ronald Smith; 1 daughter, Melinda Smith Hester; daughter-in-law, Patty Smith; sister, Tillie Graham; brother, J.D. Smith; 8 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be Wednesday, March 6, 2019, at 11am in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home. Ministers officiating are Reverend Billy Shoulders and Reverend David Penrod. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Goodlettsville, Tennessee. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, March 5th from 12noon to 7pm and on Wednesday, March 6th, from 9am until service hour of 11am.
