Joseph "Joe" Edgar Whitman, age 91, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2020, at The Waters of Cheatham in Ashland City, TN. Joe was born in Nashville, Tennessee on January 20, 1929 to the late Ollie Whitman and Nannie (Bryant) Whitman. Joe worked at Genesco for many years as a shoe laster. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Steve Whitman; brother, James Cecil "J.C." Whitman; and sister, Alma Litton. He is survived by his wife of 67 years Hazel (Hamilton) Whitman; sons, Kevin Whitman (Bernadette) and Jeff Whitman (Rachelle Ann); brother, Jack Whitman (Betty); daughter-in-law, Dolores Whitman; grandchildren, Joseph Lee Whitman (Brittney), Kevin Eric Whitman (Marie) and Jacob Scott Whitman; and 6 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be Monday, June 22, 2020, at 11am in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Bobby Webb officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, June 22, 2020, from 2pm to 6pm.
