DAVIS, Johnny "BIG GUN" Arthel, age 86, passed away on Tuesday, November 18, 2014. He was born in Russellville, Arkansas, on July 11, 1928, to Arlie Arthel Davis and Virgie Bishop Davis. Johnny was a member of Gray's Point Baptist Church. He worked under the last four sheriff administrations for Cheatham County from 1983 to 2014. He was a warrant/court officer for Cheatham County for five years. He was a member of the Tennessee Sunshine Travelers. He is predeceased by his parents; his daughters, Lynn Paulsen and Patricia Kelsey; his brothers, Audie Neal Davis and Jackie and Ricky Garrison; his sister, Joyce Pinkerton and his son-in-law Donald Hopsing Pilkinton. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Christine Davis; children, Douglas Kilmartin (Debbie), Gail Bulsok (Marty), Judy Pilkinton, Joseph Davis (Sherry), Scott Davis (Cammy), Jeanne Bean, Robbie Hammersly (Dale), Jessica Hogue (Chris), Connie Schutt (Ray), Michael Yearta (Linda), and Becky Rich (Jeff); son-in-laws Darryl Paulsen and Jim Kelsey; brother, Jerry Davis (Pearl); sisters, Alice Ellert (Frank) and Phyllis Smith; 22 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration service will be Friday, November 21, 2014, at 2pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Brother John Scott Davis, Brother James Humphrey, Jr., and Brother James Humphrey, III, officiating. Burial will follow in EverRest of Cheatham, LLC, in Pleasant View, TN, with grandchildren serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are grandchildren and great-grandchildren and the Cheatham County Sheriff's Department. Visitation with the family will be Thursday, November 20, 2014, from 2pm to 8pm and on Friday from 9am until service hour of 2pm.
