John Henry Pursley, Jr., age 79, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2022, at The Waters of McKenzie in McKenzie, Tennessee. John was born on July 21,1943 in Cheatham County, Tennessee, to the late John Henry Pursley and Gracie Mai Binkley Pursley. He was a retired truck driver for the State of Tennessee. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, John Wayne Pursley; daughter, Donna Jewell Lenning; brothers, Simon Pursley and Willard Pursley; and sisters, Carolyn Parker, Christine Newman and Mildred Newman. He is survived by his wife, Rosa Linda (Johnson) Pursley; children, Tonya Pursley, Jeanette Ellis (Troy), Judy Campbell (Jesse), Susan Pursley (Carl Whitworth), and John G. Witt (Glenda); brothers, Willie (Brenda), Eugene (Ann Clara) Pursley; sisters, Shirley Holt, Annie Hornburger, and Ruby Newman; 11 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral service for John will be Monday, November 28, 2022, at 1pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Brother Wayne Bess officiating. Burial will follow in EverRest of Cheatham LLC in Pleasant View, Tennessee. Visitation will be Monday before the service from 11am until service hour of 1pm. Family will serve as pallbearers.
