Crowson, John Ed, age 88, passed away on February 4, 2016, at his home. John was born February 21, 1927, to John Harvey and Betty Elizabeth Overcast Crowson. He was a Veteran of the U.S Marines and the U.S. Army. He was a retired security guard for the Metro Government. He was a coach of many sports in the North Nashville area, having many undefeated baseball and football teams. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sally Mildred Smith Crowson; 1 son, Herman Crowson; 1 daughter, Shirley York; 2 brothers, Harold Crowson and Wade Crowson; 1 sister, Beatrice Crowson Young. He is survived by his sons, James "Jim" Crowson (Ellen), Larry Wayne Crowson, Edgar Thomas "Tommy" Crowson (Diane); brother, Herbert Randall Crowson; 8 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. His service will be Saturday, February 6, 2016, at 10:30 am in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Brother Cecil Boswell officiating. Burial will follow in Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens in Nashville, Tennessee. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 5, 2016, from 3pm to 8pm and on Saturday from 9am until service hour of 10:30am. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
