FORT, Joel Ray, age 64, passed away on December 1, 2014. He was born on January 15, 1950, in Nashville, TN, to Ray and JoAnn Wilsford Fort. When he graduated from Cumberland High School in Nashville, Tennessee, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Big Springs, Texas. After his military career, he attended and finished his college degree concentrating in criminal law. He was employed through Metro Police Department and when he left he was a juvenile vice officer. After his career in police work, Joel worked as the Juvenile Court Chaplin in Metro Nashville. He was an avid University of Tennessee fan and he loved to golf. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Phillip Fort. He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Darlene Hamilton Fort; son, Timothy Ray Fort (Shannon); daughter, Stacia Davis; grandchildren, Trace (Megan) Davis, Ashley Fort, and Harley Fort; and one great-grandchild, Addison Davis. Funeral service for Joel will be Thursday, December 4, 2014, at 12:30pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Brother Les Chapman officiating. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, December 2, 2014, from 4pm to 8pm and on Wednesday from 3pm to 7pm and on Thursday from 11am until 12noon. Burial will follow at 2pm in Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery with military honors. Honorary pallbearers are the Cumberland High School Class of '68.
