JESSIE MAI BELL, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, at Hillcrest Healthcare Center in Ashland City, Tennessee. Jessie Mai was born in Cross Plains, Tennessee, on January 9, 1929, to the late Floyd and Nancy Chatman Strain. She was a graduate of Bransford High School in Springfield, Tennessee. Jessie Mai worked as a homemaker to her husband and children. She was a member of the Greenbrier Church of Christ in Ashland City, Tennessee. She is preceded in death by her husband, Carney Bell, Sr.; son, Carney Bell, Jr.; brothers, George Thomas and Leroy Strain; and sister, Genell Walker. She is survived by her sons: Carl (Teresa), Harold Dean and Wilson Bell; daughters, Carney Frances (Terry) Christian and L'Tanya (Harold Jarboe) Bell; brothers, Robert (Doris) and William (Rebecca) Strain; sisters, Mattie Jones, Annie J. McGill, and Mildred (David) Lewis; 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be Sunday, February 25, 2018, at 2pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Brother Brian O'Neal officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion AME Church Cemetery in Charlotte, Tennessee. The family will receive visitors on Sunday, February 25th from 1pm to 2pm time of service.
