NEWMAN, J.B., age 82, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2016, at the The Residence at Alive Hospice. He was born in Cheatham County, Tennessee, on May 26, 1934, to L.T. "Brooks" Newman and Bethel Mazell Dycus Newman. He was a United States Army Veteran; a retired construction worker after 42 years; farmer, gardener, logger and pipeline worker. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. J.B. is preceded in death by his parents, L.T. "Brooks" and Bethel Newman and brothers, Grady and Jimmy Newman. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Doris "Dot" Boyd Newman; sons, Randy Newman (Donna) and Gary Newman; brothers, Billy Ray (Frances) Newman and Ralph Newman, both of Ashland City, TN; sisters, Peggy (Jerry) Roper of New Castle, Oklahoma, and Sherry Hardwick of West Virginia; and grandchildren, Houston, Hayley and Hunter Newman. Funeral service will be Sunday, July 3, 2016, at 2pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Brother Joe Bogle and Brother Cecil Boswell officiating. Burial will follow in Bearwallow Church of Christ Cemetery in Ashland City, TN. The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 2, 2016, from 11am until 7pm and on Sunday July 3, 2016, from 11am until service hour of 2pm. Serving as pallbearers will be Houston and Hunter Newman, Jacob Miller, Johnny Reeder, Billy Winters, Jeff Newman, Matthew and Marcus Binkley. Honorary pallbearers are Andy Langley, Bob Perry, Johnny Johnson, Danny Morris, Carl Binkley, Brian Miller, Gary Tinch, T.J. Jameson, Fred Boyd, Hayley Newman and Jerry Roper.
