Obituary

Tabor, Janet Binkley Died August 22, 2023. Born September 29, 1933, in the years of The Great Depression, though she would tell you they never were hungry. She attributed that fact to the farm and the hard work of her parents. Many may know and remember her strong will and impressive work ethic. Her children were the center of her life. Her career began in Nashville, working in the music industry with Southern Plastics, Ernie's Record Mart and Mid-South Record Pressing. In 1973 she returned to Cheatham County where she helped manage a construction company, Ashland City Skating Rink, and eventually her own thriving real estate business, Janet Tabor Realtors, where she retired at 84. She was preceded in death by the father she adored, Ernest Alexander Binkley, her mother, Ruby Irene Binkley, her daughter, Emily Kathleen Eads; her daughter-in-law, Janet Myers Eads, and son-in-law, Dwight Lewis, three grandchildren; Michael Sells, James Weekley, and Stacey Greer; and great grandchild, Kaitlyn Jade Sells. Also, by her brother, Phillip Binkley. Those left to revere her memory are her children, Joyce Eads Lewis and her children, Lisa (Paul) Cravens and Lori (Alan) Vines, James David Eads and wife, Teresa and their children, Keri (Jarrod) Frye, Dustin (Samantha) McConnell and Morgan McConnell; Annette Eads Winston and husband, Barry and their children Samuel (Lea) and Alexander (Jessie) Winston; Paula Binkley Tabor Calahan, and husband, Phillip and their children, Katy Grissom (Zeke) and Carson Calahan, and Emily's son, Bobby (Nicole) Sells, as well as seventeen great-grandchildren; her sisters, Della Ruth Spall, Carole Smith, and Susie Standifer. Funeral service will be Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at 1pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Brother James Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in EverRest of Cheatham in Pleasant View, Tennessee. Visitation will be Monday, August 28, 2023, from 3pm to 7pm and Tuesday, August 29, from 11am until the service hour of 1pm. Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Cravens, Alan Vines, Dustin McConnell, Sam Winston, Alex Winston, Bobby Sells, and Carson Calahan. The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the staff of Accent Care Hospice for the care of their mother, especially Lynn Stockton, Mark, Kikko and Mandy. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Cheatham County Funeral Home 615-792-2552 online condolences at www.cheathamcountyfh.com
