James Edward Newman, age 66, passed away on Friday, September 17, 2021, at StoneRidge Health Care in Goodlettsville, Tennessee. James was born in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late Ernest and Velma Pardue Newman. He was a retired carpenter for State Industries. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Joseph Newman; brothers, Wayne, Roy and Tommy Newman; and sister, Gayle White. He is survived by his daughters, Mary (Jeff) Kane and Lisa (Jose) Lopez; brothers, Granville (Eunice) Newman, and Ricky Newman; sisters, Margaret Collier and Brenda Bennett; and 3 grandchildren, Eric Almeida, Nathan Newman and Jackson Walter Kane. Funeral service will be Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at 1pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Judson Phencie officiating. Burial will follow in Bennett Cemetery in Ashland City, Tennessee. Visitation will be Wednesday before the service from 11am until service hour of 1pm. Serving as pallbearers will be Michael Binkley, Terry Newman, Jr., William Bennett, Jimmy Bennett, David Tankersley, and Brandon Bennett and honorary pallbearer, Jerry Lee Newman.
