James Kenneth Binkley, 66, went to be with the Lord on May 1, 2013, after his battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Carrie Binkley, mother, Gladys Manley and stepfather JD Manley. He was survived by his wife, Gail Pace of Canton NC., his daughter, Christy Bowen, son, James Binkley Jr., stepdaughters, Cindy Smathers and husband Mike and Beth McCloud, stepson, Mike Pace, 14 grandchildren, Courtney, Emily, Trent, Nicolas, Caleb, Joshua, Nathaniel, Alex, Bobby, Tyler, Taylor, Ethan, Emma, and Max, sister, Judy Wakefield and husband, Robert, brother, Delbert Manley and wife, Faye, and "little brother", Carl Binkley and wife, Linda. He was born in Ashland City, TN, to Gladys Binkley. He served as a Proud Marine in the 1st Battalion 9TH Marines "The Walking Dead" in Vietnam where he received the Purple Heart for wounds in battle. He enjoyed the outdoors, farming and spending time with his animals. His kindness and willingness to lend a hand to anyone has surrounded him with friends that love him dearly. Though he has moved on to better pastures, he will be missed by all he has touched. His funeral services were held at Cheatham County Funeral Home in Ashland City Tn, on May 4, 2013 at 2:00pm with Pastor Gary Dillard officiating. Burial followed in the Sycamore Chapel Church of Christ Cemetery in Ashland City, Tn. Serving as pallbearers: James Binkley, Jr., Delbert Manley, Mike Smathers, Josh Tosh, Kevin and Nicholas Wakefield. Honorary pallbearers: Carl Binkley and Robert Wakefield.
