Surrounded by her loving family, Jackie Lanelle (Lane) Strunk, age 95, of Ashland City, Tennessee, passed away at her home on Sunday, November 16, 2025. She was born on July 3, 1930, in Burnside, Kentucky, to the late Fred Raymond Lane and Linda (Hill) Lane.
Jackie Strunk, known to most family members as "Granjack," was known for her quick wit, hilarious stories, and big heart. She was a brilliant woman who loved to read - two qualities that enabled her to become Cheatham County's first librarian in 1967. She later drove the bus for the Senior Center, a responsibility she took so seriously she once continued her bus route after breaking her foot on the job. She had a fierce appreciation for yard sales, cookbooks, and good music. Her adventurous spirit and curious nature led her to forty-nine states with her sister Bettye at her side. She was passionate about animals and fed anything that came to her door: stray cats, birds, squirrels, and even the occasional opossum. She was a devoted, lifelong Christian and a member of the First Baptist Church of Ashland City. She was the cornerstone of her family, a pillar of her community, and the most interesting person in most rooms she entered.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Linda Lane; husband, Marion Ray Strunk; son, Douglas Kay Strunk; and daughters, Marilyn Raye Baker and Gwendolyn Sue Strunk. She is survived by her sons, Michael Strunk (Mary) and Steven Strunk (Lisa); daughter-in-law, Brenda Strunk; grandchildren, Jennifer Biggs (Russ), Brandon Baker, Timothy Strunk, Elisabeth Nguyen (John), Jeremy Strunk, Motley Strunk, Andy Hardy (Mary Jo), and Samantha Strunk; great grandchildren, Dustin Baker (Haley), Skyler Biggs, Ryan Biggs (Samantha), Sam Baker, Emma Baker, Seth Biggs, Marilyn Biggs, Etta Strunk, Allison Nguyen, and Nola Strunk; and great-great grandchildren, Kayden, Cohen, Cameron, Ruthie, and Ryder.
The funeral service will be Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 1 p.m. in the Chapel. The burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery in Ashland City, Tennessee. Jackie's family will receive friends Friday, November 21, 2025, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, November 22, 2025, from 11 a.m. until the service hour of 1 p.m. Russell Biggs, Ryan Biggs, Seth Biggs, Brandon Baker, Dustin Baker, and Sam Baker will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cheatham County Animal Shelter or the American Cancer Society.
