Obituary

SIMPSON, J.D. "Jimmy", age 86, passed away on September 14, 2014, at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, TN. Jimmy was born in 1928 to John Dudley Simpson and Nellie Evelyn Binkley Simpson in Ashland City, TN. When he joined the Navy he was stationed in Guam. After his time in the Navy ended, he re-enlisted with the 82nd Airborne and was sent to San Antonio, TX. While at Fort Sam Houston in medical school, he met his wife Marcene Best. They knew each other for two weeks and were married. Jimmy was a member of the Cheap Hill Church of Christ. Jimmy is predeceased by his parents, his daughter, Jadene; and his brother-in-law, Oscar Hamilton. Jimmy is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marcene Best Simpson; brother, Raymond Douglas Simpson (Sherry); sisters, Mamie Hamilton; Cladie Bell Hollis; Charlene Harris (Denville); grandchildren Jennifer and Tia Elaine McGill; and 4 great-grandchildren. Funeral service Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at 6pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home. Visitation with the family Tuesday from 12noon until the service hour of 6pm.
