Sanders, Hershel Lewis, age 89, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2014. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Bernice Hunter Sanders; son, Bobby Sanders; grandson, Philip Sanders; brother, Cecil Sanders; and sisters, Dot Brinkley and Nelda Sanders. He is survived by his wife, Mary Margaret Stack Sanders; sons, Tommy (Cynthia) Sanders of Ashland City, and Kenneth Sanders of Clarksville; daughter, Sandy (Jason) Cannon of Ashland City; grandchildren, Bob Sanders, Dale Sanders, Jereme Sanders, Lily Cannon, Helen Cannon, and Jack Cannon; great-grandchildren, Westley Sanders, Maddie Sanders, and Derek Sanders. For much of his life, Hershel owned a farm in Cheatham County, but he also drove many children as a school bus driver for the Cheatham County School System. He retired from the Ashland City Vending Service where he worked for the LaCrosse Family at the A.O.Smith/State Industries cafeteria, and he was a longtime member of the Bethlehem Free Will Baptist Church. Funeral service will be Saturday, February 1, 2014, at 11 am in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Brother Randy Corn officiating. Visitation with the family will be Friday, January 31, 2014 from 5 pm – 8 pm and Saturday, February 1, 2014 from 10 am until the funeral hour of 11 am. Burial will follow in the Ever Rest Memorial Gardens in Pleasant View, TN. Pallbearers will be Bob Sanders, Dale Sanders, Jereme Sanders, Westley Sanders, Derek Sanders, and Jack Cannon. Honorary pallbearers will be Donnie Hyde, Chris LaCrosse, and Terry Grogan.
