Hazel Whitman, age 92, formerly of Joelton, Tennessee, passed away in Pleasant View, Tennessee, on May 29, 2025. She was born in Carbon Hill, Alabama on March 31, 1933 to Sylvester Hamilton and Coren (McDonald) Hamilton. She attended Parkwood Baptist Church in Madison, Tennessee. She was a retired telephone operator for AT&T. She is preceded in death by her parents, Sylvester and Coren Hamilton; husband, Joe Whitman; son, Steve Whitman; brother, Paul "Tot" Hamilton; and sisters, Jessie Mae Hamilton, Norma Jean Hamilton, Lois Stoner, Peggy Joyce Stallings and Sherry Helen Glarrdo. She is survived by her sons, Kevin Whitman and Jeff Whitman (Rachelle Ann); brothers, J.P. Hamilton (Cherrie), Ronald "Ronnie" Eugene Hamilton, and Phillip Dale Hamilton; sisters, Alice Fay Young, and Sarah Ruth Abbott; daughter-in-law, Dolores Whitman; grandchildren, Joseph Lee Whitman, Kevin Eric Whitman, and Jacob Scott Whitman and several great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Monday, June 2, 2025, in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Dale Robble officiating. Burial will follow in Jones Hill Cemetery in Watertown, Tennessee. Visitation will be Monday before the service from 11am until service hour of 1pm. Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.
