Grace Ruth Harvey Cannon passed away on Saturday, Oct 25, 2014. She was born on January 9, 1923, in Ashland City, TN, to Van Buren Harvey and Henrietta Roskam Harvey. She graduated from Ashland City High School in 1941 and received the nickname of "Rosie the Riveter" while repairing airplanes during WWII. She worked for Werthan Bag, Acme Boot, Ashland City Five and Dime and in later years as a homemaker. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, Earl Cannon; sisters, Myrtle West, Ruby Milam and Vema McCloud; brothers, Fred Harvey and Robert Harvey; and grandson, Henry Marvin Johnson. She is survived by her son, Earl Cannon, Jr, (Karen); daughters, Gayle Merritt (James), Gloria Williams and Vicki Johnson (Dick); 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Ruth was a member of Ashland City Church of Christ and her interests were participating in the Cheatham County Fair, Bethlehem Home Demonstration Club, and travelling. Funeral service Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at 1pm in the Cheatham County Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Drake Jenkins officiating. Visitation with the family Monday, October 27, 2014, from 4pm to 8pm and on Tuesday from 10am until service hour of 1pm. Burial in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Ashland City, TN. Serving as pallbearers: Chris Johnson, Bo Donaldson, Kris Wiles, David Greco, Gary Merritt and Jimmy Merritt.
