Gaylord Lew Ayers, 77, died on January 27, 2013, at St. Thomas Hospital. He was born on July 11, 1935, in Madison, South Dakota.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Ayers, father, Milton Ayers, and sister Carol Ayers Leiby. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Primm Ayers, brother, Roger (Sandra) Ayers, brother-in-law, Dr. George Leiby, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Ayers held a Masters Degree in Communications (Radio and television) from University of South Dakota. He moved to Nashville to accept a position as Production Manager at WDCN, Nashville's
Educational TV Station and was quickly promoted to Program Director. He also wrote several scripts and served as narrator for local
production films as well as teaching communication seminars at universities. He had previously held positions with television
stations in Minnesota, Kansas, and South Dakota. After a successful career, he retired at the age of 62. Mr. Ayers was greatly loved by all who knew him. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2013, from 3pm to 9pm at Cheatham County Funeral Home , as well as Thursday from 9am until funeral hour
of 1pm. Reverend Lemuel Wade will officiate and George Wearn and Randy Walker will provide the eulogy. The interment will be held at
Ever Rest Memorial Gardens in Pleasant View, TN. Serving as active pallbearers will be Jerry Primm, Andy Primm, Austin Primm, Randy
Walker, Wayne Reeves, Mike Maxey, Taylor McCullough; Dr. George Leiby, Frank Teasley, Frank Newman, Willie Alexander, Jonathan Newman, George
Wearn, and Ray Fass. Honorary pallbearers will be Gina Primm, Dawson Primm, Johnny and Shirley Jones, Pete and Jean Case, Ann Teasley,
Patsy Perry, the Lunch Group, Trivia Team, Pat Anderson, Adrienne Sartorius, Ronnie Perry, Lurton, Sara and Gina Baggett, Jeannie Wearn,
Ray and Seena Fass, Don Walker, and WDCN-TV Lunch Bunch.
