Obituary

Gary Diviney, age 73, passed away in Nashville, Tennessee on Sunday, January 22, 2023. He was born in Nashville on June 8, 1949. Gary worked in trucking for State Industries and as a switcher for A.O. Smith in Ashland City, Tennessee. He also served in the United States Air Force. Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Lee and Thelma Wilson Diviney; brothers, Jerry Lee Diviney and Harold Douglas Diviney; and grandson, R.J. Manley. He is survived by his loving wife, Laverne (Boyd) Diviney; sons, Greg Diviney (Connie), Jeremy Diviney (Melissa); daughter, Jodi Jones (David); grandchildren, Amber Lagness (Dave), Ashley Diviney, Zachary Diviney, Nathan Jones, Lucas Diviney, Katelyn Diviney, Dawson Jones, and Donovan Thomas; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 1pm on Thursday, January 26, 2023, in the chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Brother Dwayne James officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 25 from 2pm to 7pm and on Thursday, January 26, from 9am until the hour of service. Burial will follow at Friendship Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery. Family and friends will be serving as pallbearers.
