Franklin Delano Corter, age 85, of Lehigh Acres, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. He was born on September 29, 1940, in Giles County, Tennessee, to the late William Thomas Corter, Sr., and Beulah Mae (Reynolds) Corter.
Frank served in the United States Army in the 501st Infantry, 1st Airborne Battle Group and in the Army 313th Security Agency.
Frank began his career with the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier. He served as Post Master first in Chapel Hill, Tennessee and then retiring as Post Master in Ashland City, TN.
Frank graduated from the Nashville Bible School. He was a Deacon and Minister for various Churches of Christ in Chapel Hill, Tennessee; Holts Corner, Tennessee; Ashland City, Tennessee and recently attended the Lehigh Acres Church of Christ in Florida. He and his wife Elvira moved to Chiriqui, Panama in South America where they established a Church of Christ. With the financial support from churches in Tennessee, they taught the word of God and baptized many souls into Christ.
Frank and Elvira loved to travel, fish, garden and remodel houses and he was an avid reader.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William Thomas Corter, Sr., and Beulah Mae Corter; brothers, William Thomas Corter, Jr., Robert Corter, Jesse Calvin Corter, and Harold Corter; and sisters, Emma Corter, Nellie Anders, Nida Christine Corter, Dorothy Glass, Edith Daniels, and Christine Pierce.
He is survived by his loving wife, Elvira Corter; son, Michael Corter (Connie Darlene); daughters, Michelle Justice (Chris), Marilyn Horton (Alan), Melinda Read, and Tiffany Corter; sister, Leatha Brock; grandchildren, Heath Read (Erica), Devin Corter, Brad Corter (Ashley), Channing Horton, and Jacqueline Justice; and great grandson, Ezra Read.
Pallbearers will be Michael Corter, Alan Horton, Chris Justice, Heath Read, Devin Corter and Brad Corter.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at 11am in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with David Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery in Nashville, Tennessee. Visitation will be the same day from 9am until the service hour of 11am.
