Obituary

SIMMONS, Essie Mae, age 80, passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2018. Essie was born in Pulaski, Tennessee, on July 3, 1938, to the late Sadie Caldwell. She was a member of the New Hope Free Will Baptist Church. Essie formerly worked for Acme Boot, Springs, and in Dietary at Centennial in Ashland City.

Essie Mae is preceded in death by her mother; husband, David Simmons; sons, David Simmons, Jr., and Robert Simmons; brothers, Joe D. Caldwell and Robert Kerr; and sisters, Ida Mae Anderson and Louise Scott. She is survived by her two daughters, Judie (Reginald) Ballard and La Dana (James Milam) Simmons; grandchildren, Marcus (Brittany) Ballard, Robert Yearta, Cordia Milam, James Milam, and McKenzie Milam; and great-grandchildren, Natalie and Andrew Ballard.

Funeral service will be Sunday, December 9, 2018, at 2pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Pastor Larry T. Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery in the Neptune Community of Ashland City. The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 8th from 4pm to 6pm and on Sunday, December 9th from 1pm until service hour of 2pm.
