Elva Elizabeth (Hudgens) Smith, age 98, of Ashland City, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Vantage Pointe Village in Ashland City, Tennessee. She was born on May 11, 1926, in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late Floyd and Lant Hudgens. She was a long-time faithful member of East Nashville Free Will Baptist Church. Elva was a homemaker. She is preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Lant Hudgens; husband, Horace Gilbert Smith; brothers, Clyde Hudgens, Houston Hudgens, Glen Hudgens, Donald Hudgens, and Carl Hudgens; and sisters, Marie Perkins and Jean Brinkley. She is survived by her son, Philip Smith (Gina); sister, Linda Shivers; sister-in-law, Jane Hudgens; grandchildren, Justin Smith (Holly) and Bryan Smith (Lauren); great grandchildren, Raegan Smith; Ryder Smith, Rowen Smith, Grayson Smith, and Bella Smith; and step-daughters, Janice Smith (Bill) and Lavone Ward and their families. Funeral service will be Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 1pm in the Chapel with Reverend Bobby Webb officiating and Philip Smith providing the eulogy. Burial will follow in Hudgens Family Cemetery in Ashland City, Tennessee. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 10, 2024, from 3pm to 8pm and Thursday, July 11, 2024, from 11am until the service hour of 1pm. Serving as pallbearers will be Tim Shivers, Danny Hudgens, Brent Shivers, Justin Smith, Bryan Smith, and Dale Brinkley. Honorary pallbearers will be Randall Brinkley, Gary Hudgens, nieces, and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gideons International. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Zach Fulton and the staff at Vantage Pointe Village, and Tennova Hospice, for the incredible care given to their loved one.
