Obituary

Elbert C. Fish, Jr., age 88, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at The Waters of Springfield in Springfield, TN. He was born in Port Angeles, WA on November 23, 1933, to Elbert C. Fish, Sr., and Lucy Mai (MacKechnie) Fish.

Bert began his 27-year Army career at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and made over 100 jumps as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne. He was stationed throughout the United States, as well as Puerto Rico, Spain and Germany. He served two tours in Vietnam, where he worked in a MASH unit.

Bert was a proud Fifty-Year Member of the Masons and was raised to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason in 1962. He was also a proud and dedicated Fifty-year Member of the Scottish Rite.

Bert met the love of his life, Allie Juanita Schutt, at a bowling alley in Nashville, when they were both 17. They married at 18 and enjoyed an incredible 71 years of marriage. Bert and Juanita raised four children together, and gave them adventures around the world, including seeing the bullfights in Spain, skiing in the Swiss Alps, and touring castles in Germany.

Bert is preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Lucy Fish; brothers, Richard Fish, Jim Fish, and Bob Fish; sister, Dorothy Fish; and granddaughter, Kallie Rahe Fish. He is survived by his wife, Juanita Fish; sons, Elbert (Katy), Fish, III and Jon (Tammy) Fish; daughters, Janice (Danny) Black and Karen (Benedict) Nwokeabia; eight grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

Bert, you are loved and will be missed by all.
Memorial service will be Friday, June 17, 2022, at 6pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Craig Cross and Brother George Adair officiating. Memorial visitation will be Friday before the service beginning at 5pm.
