E. M. "Sparky" Delashmitt, age 98, of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024, at his home. He was born in Cleveland, Tennessee, to the late Ralph Pledger Delashmitt and Mary Lee (Morris) Delashmitt. He graduated from Hume-Fogg High School. He served in the United States Navy during World War II in Pearl Harbor. He owned and worked with his father and brother at Gulf Service Station. He later worked at Phillips 66 Service Station, Gray and Dudley, and Steiner-Liff. Sparky held a deep love for all animals. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Mary Delashmitt; wife, Irene (Dozier) Delashmitt; and brothers, Joseph "Joe" Thomas Delashmitt and Clark "Bud" Milton Delashmitt. He is survived by his sons, Kerry Wayne Delashmitt (Sheila Marilyn) and David Morris Delashmitt; grandchildren, Sheila Irene Delashmitt, Candace Laurel Delashmitt, Kristin Nicole Delashmitt, and Rebecca Anne Delashmitt; great grandson, Weston Delashmitt; niece, Ardis Jensen and great nephew, Joseph Jensen. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Steven Tai, April Joyner, Alive Hospice nurse, Cassidy and his honorary daughter and caregiver, Bonnie (Todd) Varney for their incredible care and service. Funeral service will be Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at 1pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Dozier Cemetery in Ashland City, Tennessee. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 30, 2024, from 4pm to 7pm and Wednesday, May 1, 2024, from 11am until the service hour of 1pm.
