Obituary

Donnie E. McCool, 89, of Ashland City, Tennessee, departed this life on May 27, 2026, at his home.

He was born on February 19, 1937, in Pleasant View, Tennessee, to the late James Zelmer McCool and Louise (Binkley) McCool. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Linda; his children, Everett McCool and Maria (James) McCool Binkley; his two grandchildren, Tyler Randall (Kaylee Beth Penick) Binkley and Macey Deshea Binkley, fiancée of Gavin Christopher Beard; as well as cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James Millard McCool. Donnie was a devoted Christian and was a member of Bearwallow Road Church of Christ. He was a hardworking man. He graduated from Cheatham County High School in 1956 and especially enjoyed playing basketball under Coach Ralph Spangler. He loved working on tractors and equipment and took great satisfaction in getting them running again. He also enjoyed helping Wilson Bell mow grass and assisting Creig McLaughlin with installing electric gates.

Funeral service will be Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 12pm in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Joe Bogle, Tyler Binkley, and Pete Krantz officiating. Burial will follow in Stewart/ Wall Cemetery in Ashland City, Tennessee. Visitation will be Friday, May 29, 2026, from 4pm to 8pm and Saturday from 10am until the service hour of 12pm. Serving as pallbearers will be Tyler Binkley, James Binkley, Gavin Beard, Pete Krantz, Richard Krantz, and Seth Binkley.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Churches of Christ Disaster Relief, where he enjoyed volunteering and packing boxes.
