POWERS, David Roy, age 77, passed away on December 14, 2014. He was born on May 26, 1937, to Olan Roy Powers and Ethel Taylor Powers in West Branch, Iowa. He proudly served in the U.S. Army following high school and worked as a diesel mechanic for most his life. He retired from United Structural Systems after working as a shop foreman. He is preceded in death by his parents, 11 brothers and sisters, and a daughter, Cheryl Johnson. He is survived by his loving wife, Janie Powers; sons, Curtis (Mechelle) Powers, Michael (Janice) Powers, and Rick Powers; daughter, Linda (Craig) Remick; brother, Paul (May) Powers; 17 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be Wednesday, December 17, 2014, at 11am in the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Pastor David Royalty officiating and Mike Smith providing a eulogy. Burial will follow with military honors in EverRest of Cheatham, LLC, in Pleasant View, TN. Serving as pallbearers will be Joshua Powers, Kimberly Powers, Harold Magill, Carl Charles, Travis Brown, and Andy Sensing. Honorary pallbearers are Francis Driscoll, Lonnie Barnes, Chris Smith, Chad Hall, Joey Yearta, Keith Mosier and Damien Powers. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 16, 2014, from 2pm to 7pm and on Wednesday from 9am until service hour of 11am.
